ROAD TRIP! Took myself out of NOLA for the weekend to check out Felix's Oyster Bar . I love the one in NOLA and heard they recently one a location n Mississippi so it was time for a beach trip. People ask me all the time what my favorite food is and every time I take forever trying to answer. But-- it always ends the same. SEAFOOD. OYSTERS. So of course, I was gonna order a lot of oyster-related items.. Started off with their charbroiled oysters. And I gotta say-- I love gulf oysters. they are BIG and flavorful! Can't go wrong with butter and garlic. Then I got some raw oysters because duh. It is hard to mess up raw oysters- And I do not want to experience a mess up of raw oysters, EVER. Next the fried calamari came out. I have not eaten those in a while, more so as a child. I was happy for them to have a comeback in my life. There was a lot of fried batter, but when you order fried food like that, that can be expected. The seafood gumbo was also a hit. Great portion size and a taste of everything. It wasn't a super hot summer night, so the gumbo was a good idea-- I'm usually not one to get hot soup when its hot, maybe thats just me!
I know I know this is a lot of food and I am not even finished explaining what I got-- I do admit I took my parents, soooo this food did NOT go to waste. We also got the Felix Special poboy, which is my 2 favorite things on a poboy (besides roast beef) fried oyster and fried shrimp. Last but not least we got some boiled Royal Reds! They tasted like little lobsters. I had never had them before because they aren't always in season. Boy-- this was THE time to get them. juicy, cooked PERFECTLY. I would 100% recommend ordering Royal Reds if you go. It is a must. Not pictured- Bread pudding for dessert. It was all a nod to NOLA cuisine and I respect that. Great view of the beach and Mississippi sound. So if you ever see the desire to hit the beach, try the Mississippi Gulf Coast and check this place out!! Tell 'em Evie Eats sent you ;)
